Angel Reese announces her new nickname now that she's in the WNBA

Angel Reese was affectionately known as the "Bayou Barbie" over her two seasons at LSU. Now that she's in the NBA as a member of the Chicago Sky, though, Reese has to start representing a different brand.

She's keeping the same idea, though, and she recently announced on TikTok that she'll from now on be known as the "Chi Barbie".

“I want y’all to know I’m still gonna be the Bayou Barbie, but like, I’m going to Chicago now,” Reese said, as transcribed by On3. “They’ve basically already been inheriting me into Chicago. So many people done reached out to me, the love from Chicago is running deep and going crazy. So I’m the ‘Chi Barbie,’ I’m the ‘Baltimore Barbie’ and I am always gonna be the ‘Bayou Barbie.’ See y’all when I get to Chicago soon.”

Originally from Baltimore, the now former LSU forward has what it takes to be a star at the WNBA level.

In two seasons at LSU, she averaged 20.8 points and 14.4 rebounds per game for the Tigers. She played her first two college seasons at Maryland.

The Sky traded up to take Reese No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
