Los Angeles Lakers: Darvin Ham Shares ‘Bleak’ Message After Crushing Finish to 2024 Campaign
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no question that the summer is going to be full of questions for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Their core players LeBron James and Anthony Davis are getting up there in age, with King James hitting the big 40 if he decides to play for one more season. It’s not even certain if he’ll play for the Purple and Gold next season due to how the season ended for them.

This early exit also spells trouble for Darvin Ham. He failed to follow up his strong first season with the Lakers as he failed to bolster his team’s key weaknesses this season. With nothing but victory expected out of the Lakers, many speculate that Darvin Ham’s time in the City of Angels is coming to an end.

His most recent message on his time with the Lakers may have all but confirmed his fate.

Darvin Ham looks back at time with Los Angeles Lakers as his coaching future is in doubt

Ham was interviewed about everything that has to do with the Purple and Gold as they prepare to rebuild the roster.

The coach was asked about the recently concluded season, and his reply was something that gave fans the feeling that he may not be coming back for another season:

It’s not like Ham had a terrible season with the Lakers. He enjoyed a 90-74 record in his two years as the team’s head coach. His impressive coaching also helped the Lakers make the Western Conference Finals last year, so it’s clear that he can coach with the best of them.

However, it’s also undeniable that the Lakers are a franchise that expects nothing but wins out of their teams. Ham knew coming in that the Lakers always want to win, and failing to meet those lofty standards could mean expulsion from one of the American sports’ hottest seats.
